Though Amarinder Singh would like the farmers and government to find a solution, his primary concern is to save Punjab, a border state, from the machinations of the Pakistanis.

Today, after several decades, the Khalistan/Pakistan nexus is again rearing its ugly head in pockets of Punjab. After all Sikhs, Hindus in Punjab are almost indistinguishable, and yet there were so many killings, so much bad blood that The Khalistanis started killing Sikhs, Hindus and anyone who stood up against them. When I lived in Jalandhar during the 1960s and than during the dreaded Khalistan period in the 1980s, which, propelled by the Congress party, and their divide and rule strategy to get votes to win elections, I realised how much politics can divide even a cohesive community.
